“Zoo Heaven” was one of the Tribute Album titles, and Casey assigned it to The Avalanches — an Australian electronic music group, if, like me, you’ve never heard of them. When Talysman wrote the Tribute Album lyrics, he did none (other than “welcome to the zoo… welcome to heaven”) for “Zoo Heaven”; instead, he recorded it as a sound collage, incorporating samples from sources such as educational films and TV shows. The result was IBC’s longest track and one of its more avant garde.
And one of its best. Well, I think so. Yeah, the length works against it if you’ve got it in heavy rotation. Don’t put it in heavy rotation. This is a song to get out when you’re ready for it.
