As one who strongly believes our health care system is in urgent need of
reform, I am dismayed by what has happened in the Senate. Obama and Reid
have ceded everything to Joe Lieberman. The public option has been
removed. Medicare buy-in has been removed. Drug reimportation has been
stonewalled. Annual caps, which Obama promised would be eliminated, are
permitted. We are left with an individual mandate, with nothing to
guarantee affordable insurance will be available, and with a tax on middle
class health insurance plans which is certain to make our insurance less
affordable and less comprehensive.

This is simply unacceptable.

We are told doing nothing is not an option. It certainly is an option, if
the alternative is to make things worse, and the Senate bill makes things
far, far worse.

Please kill this bill. The House bill, aside from the odious Stupak
amendment, is a good one. Go back to that, and work from there.
