Actually Samuel HOLMES did not live in Montville — that town was not created until after Samuel’s death; during his lifetime it was the North Parish of New London.
See [Stover] for a recent summation of what is known (and what isn’t!) about Samuel and Lucretia. This page provides some additional clues, and a correction.
Samuel and Lucretia’s son, Nathan HOLMES
See Probably Nathan: A Plausible Genealogy of Nathan Holmes of Hamilton, New York.
Correction: Nathan’s wife
[Stover] writes “A Nathan Holmes m. Grace Chapman, born in the 1770s”, with no source shown. From email correspondence with Stover, her source was [Baker] and the above name is incorrect: it should be Grace CHAPEL.
Samuel and Lucretia’s daughter, Lucretia HOLMES
